Employers seeking a work permit for a regulated health professional must submit the Department of immigration Section 9 form to the relevant Statutory Body. This should occur when the health professional submits their initial registration application.

Please complete the Department of Immigration Section 9 Application Form and attach a copy of the Section 9 form and a Statement of Need. The Statement of Need is a signed and dated letter from the sponsoring practice that identifies the need to hire a guest worker, locum tenens, or visiting practitioner. It should also include the proposed work permit dates for the employee.

Once the Section 9 form is completed by the Statutory Body, it is sent via email to the Department of Immigration. The Sponsoring Practice is included in this email. It is the Sponsoring Practice’s responsibility to provide the Department of Immigration with a hard copy of the completed Section 9 form once it’s been signed by the Statutory Body.

The Certificate of Professional Education Form (COPE) must be sent directly from the institution where you received your professional qualifications. (i.e. Degree, Diploma)

Please advise us if getting the institution to fill out the COPE form is not attainable in an e-mail to hpadmin@gov.bm,  In this event, we can accept notarized copies of degrees and diplomas in place of the COPE form,  however, the COPE form is our preferred method to verify professional qualifications.
