The Bermuda Health Council serves as the Registrar for five of the seven health professional statutory bodies. Registered and Licensed Addiction Counselors 

The Board of Addiction Counsellors wishes to advise the public that ONLY addiction counsellors registered with the Council for Allied Health Professions in Bermuda can practice addiction counselling.

Addiction counsellors are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and proof of a valid registration should be displayed or made available upon request.

Registered and Licensed Chiropodists (Podiatrists) 

The Board of Chiropodists (Podiatrists) wishes to advise the public that ONLY chiropodists (podiatrists) registered with the Council for Allied Health Professions in Bermuda can practice chiropody or podiatry.

Chiropodists (Podiatrists) are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and proof of a valid registration should be displayed or made available upon request.

The Bermuda Dental board wishes to advise the public that only dentists registered with the Board in Bermuda can practice dentistry, only dental technicians registered with the Board in Bermuda can practice dental techniques, and, only dental hygienists registered with the Board in Bermuda can practice dental or oral hygiene.

 

Registered and Licensed Diagnostic Imaging Technologists 

The Board of Diagnostic Imaging Technologists wishes to advise the public that ONLY diagnostic imaging technologists registered with the Council for Allied Professions in Bermuda can practice diagnostic imaging technology.

Diagnostic imaging technologists are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and proof of a valid registration should be displayed or made available upon request.

Registered and Licensed Dietitians

The Board of Dietitians wishes to advise the public that ONLY dietitians registered with the Council for Allied Health Professions in Bermuda can practice dietetics.

Dietitians are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and proof of a valid registration should be displayed or made available upon request.

Registered Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics

The Board of Emergency Medical Technicians wishes to advise the public that ONLY Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics registered with the Council for Allied Health Professions in Bermuda can serve as Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedicsofficeofcmo@gov.bm

Registered Medical Laboratory Technologists

The Board of Medical Laboratory Technologists wishes to advise the public that ONLY medical laboratory technologists registered with the Council for Allied Health Professions in Bermuda can practice medical laboratory techniques.

Medical laboratory technologists are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and proof of a valid registration should be displayed or made available upon request.

Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) wishes to advise the public that only medical practitioners registered with the OCMO can practice medicine.

Medical practitioners are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing medical education. Registration must be current and a valid registration may be displayed at the workplace.

The Bermuda Nursing and Midwifery Council wishes to advise the public that they establish and maintain a register of advanced practice, enrolled, general, psychiatric, nurse associates and midwives.  Practitioners must make Application for Retention to the Register every two (2) years, having been engaged in the practice of nursing, as the case may be, for the prescribed number of hours per year in the two year period immediately prior to the date of application.

Every nurse, nurse associate, and midwife shall complete a prescribed number of continuing professional education that the Council may approve.  Registration and proof of registration must be displayed or made available on request.

Registered Occupational Therapists

The Board of Occupational Therapists wishes to advise the public that ONLY occupational therapists registered with the Council for Allied Health Professions in Bermuda can practice occupational therapy.

Occupational therapists are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and proof of a valid registration should be displayed or made available upon request.

The Optometrists and Opticians Council wishes to advise the public that ONLY optometrists and opticians registered with the Council in Bermuda can practice optometry and opticianry. Optometrists and opticians are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and proof of a valid registration should be displayed or made available upon request.

Registered Pharmacists 

The Pharmacy Council wishes to advise the public that ONLY pharmacists registered with the Pharmacy Council in Bermuda can practice pharmacy.

Pharmacists are required by law to re-register every 2 years. Registration must be current and a valid registration certificate may be displayed at the workplace.

Registered Physiotherapists 

The Bermuda Board of Physiotherapy wishes to advise the public that ONLY physiotherapists/physical therapists registered with Council for Allied Health Professionals in Bermuda can practice physiotherapy.

Physiotherapists are required by law to re-register every 2 years and must maintain professional competency through continuing education. Registration must be current and a valid registration should be displayed at the workplace.

Registered and Licensed Psychologists

The Bermuda Psychologists Council wishes to advise the public that ONLY individuals registered as psychologists with the Bermuda Psychologists Council can practice as psychologists and use the name, title or description ‘psychologist’ in Bermuda (see Psychological Practitioners Act 2018).
